George Thomas ranks as one of America's finest golf course architects. Part of the acclaimed Philadelphia School of architecture, which included names like Tillinghast, Wilson, Flynn, and Crump, Thomas left his most lasting impression in California, where he designed over 20 courses. Chief among them are three you may have heard of: Los Angeles Country Club (North), Bel Air Country Club, and Riviera Country Club.

But before Thomas headed to California, and before even establishing himself in Philly, Thomas laid out a nine-hole course on a spit of land jutting out into Buzzards Bay, on the south coast of Massachusetts. Marion Golf Club doesn't have the flash of Thomas's later creations, but it does contain everything that golfers look for in a bona fide hidden gem: affordable greens fees, affable local owners, a long history, and genuinely interesting golf. Stone walls and blind shots abound, and Marion's new owners are excited to showcase their work as they return the course to the excellent playing conditions that it deserves.

Our full course rental will include a two-man, 18-hole competition with dual flags, plus a full-group shootout at Marion's devious 9th hole. We'll have food, drinks, and swag, plus Marion will have a variety of merch featuring their new rose logo. Thomas may have cared more about the cultivation and care of roses than he did about golf, so it's fitting that new owners Michael, Will, and Jeremiah chose this flower to symbolize the rebirth of such a classic golf course. Join us on October 16th and experience the newly reinvigorated Marion!!
